ESNZ Eventing seminars are open to all current Eventing Officials, (including Technical delegates, Course Designers, Stewards, and XC Judges). Riders, NZ Pony Club Officials and anyone else interested in becoming an Eventing Official are also welcome to attend.  Please note there is no charge to attend these seminars.

New Virtual Maintenance Programme Courses for Group B Officials

In light of the challenges for Group B Officials to attend in-person Maintenance Courses as a result of Covid-19, the Board agreed to maintain the requirement for an existing in-person Maintenance Course and to provide an “Emergency Virtual Maintenance Programme” as a second option.

Group B Officials will now have two options to choose from:

• Option 1: In-person Maintenance Course – choice by default
• Option 2: Emergency Virtual Maintenance Programme – on request & sign-up

In May, all Group B Officials will receive an email from the FEI to advise on how to proceed and select their preferred option with a deadline to reply of 1 June 2021. National Federations will be kept updated on the relevant timelines and next steps in the coming weeks.

From 2022 onwards, all Officials will be required to pass an annual CES Online Assessment, and to attend at least one in-person or virtual maintenance course every three years.

Guide to Cross Country Course Design 

This Guide is not just for course designers but is intended to support all Officials in understanding the cross country test and design of cross country courses. It is not a rule book nor is it a stand-alone document, rather it is to be used as a supplementary document alongside the official ESNZ Eventing documents and the ESNZ Eventing Officials Education programme.     

Guide for Cross Country Judges

At all National Short format events there is a Chief Cross Country Judge, plus one or two Assistant Cross Country Judges.  These officials make up the Ground Jury for the event and they are in charge of the event, while it is in progress, and all final judgement decisions will be made by them.
