Margaret has been involved with eventing for many years as a committee member of Eventing Canterbury, being a former Chairman and current FEI Event Director, as well as being a parent to riders. She has been a Board member for ESNZ Eventing for 5 years and is well aware of the challenges and rewards of the sport. Outside of eventing, Margaret was employed as a scientist in endocrinology at Christchurch Hospital for 30 years with a specialist research interest in reproduction in mares. During this time, she was a member of a number of national and international scientific committees, and is currently a Board member of the NZ Equine Research Foundation, and the NZ Equine Trust. She is married to Bruce Taylor, an equine veterinarian who is also involved in the sport and is an FEI vet.

As a life time fan of eventing Raewyn is delighted to have the opportunity to contribute to the development of Eventing as a board member. Raewyn’s professional career of 20+ years spans a broad management skill set of consulting, strategic planning, project, programme and change management and she describes her passion as building an organisation’s capability through it’s people. Raewyn started eventing in her thirties at the grassroots level and has involved herself with Eventing Wairarapa’s organising committee, running clinics and serving as Cross Country Convenor. Raewyn was highly successful in raising the funds for the build of the new cross country courses when they moved to their current home ground at Clareville. Raewyn lives with her family and horses on a lifestyle block in Palmerston North.

Having spent many years of my life involved with horses and the sport of Eventing I am looking forward to contributing further as a member of the ESNZ Eventing Board. My interest in horses started as an 8 year old riding on my family farm in Rongotea, then as a Pony Club kid in the 1960s. It was rekindled when my daughter started riding 16 years ago and now I am proud to be the oldest groom on the circuit. This alongside my volunteer work for Eventing Wellington over the past 10 years in various capacities, most recently as a Cross Country Course Builder, has given me a keen interest in the future of Eventing in NZ. My business background is in hospitality and adult education.

Hi there, I’m Shannon Galloway, I’m married with two boys aged 9 and 11.
I have over 20 years in corporate organisations from education, energy and agriculture, and my experience spans general management, change management and brand building with a specific interest in Marketing, Communications and Sponsorship.
I moved into sports administration three years ago and work for Cycling New Zealand.
I’m the current Waikato Eventing riders rep and have been a volunteer committee member of Kihikihi Horse Trials for a number of years and love the comradery of our sport of eventing. Of all the equestrian disciplines, it seems to be the most humble – eventers seem to understand trying to get one discipline right is hard enough – let alone all three!
With N+1 horses ranging from 4* to semi bronco, I seem to attract off the track thoroughbreds to our property.
I’m looking forward to working with the Board in the commercial space and seeing how we can grow our profile and opportunities for our sport.

Outside my professional life I have been interested in horses from an early age. When my children became involved with Pony Club and Eventing in 2008 I became heavily involved in equestrian sports, in both a formal governance capacity and informal roles. I have a strong sense of purpose, and ability for getting things done. I am able to communicate in a clear manner. I have good leadership skills and enjoy working collaboratively. I respect and value people from all backgrounds.
Being part of Wellington Organising Committee (OC) has meant I have been interested in how events are run and the people involved. I believe I am in a good position to create and maintain effective relationships with people on other OCs around New Zealand, canvassing their views and representing their interests on the ESNZ Eventing Board.

Heelan lives in the bay of plenty and has a small team of event horses. Heelan became an Olympian in 2004 riding her little horse Glengarrick at the Athens three day event. When she is not running round after her two children Charly Rose (3) and Hudson (2) she works for the NZOC as an Olympic ambassador, traveling to schools and speaking to students about the olympics and the Olympic values.
