The Bicton International Horse Trials are underway with Andrew Nicholson the best of the Kiwis in both the CCI4*-L and CCI4*-S part way through the dressage.

Andrew and Swallow Springs scored 30.8 penalty points in the CCI4*-S (section C) with Samantha Lissington aboard Ricker Ridge Rui on 31.4. The 53-strong field is led by Olympic long lister Laura Collett (GBR) aboard London 52 on 21.

The CCI4*-S (section C1) gets underway this evening with Caroline Powell and Greenacres Special Cavalier the first combination into the dressage arena. Also going in the class is Amanda Pottinger aboard Just Kidding, Bruce Haskell on Amiro Sky, Jesse Campbell with Gambesie and Samantha Lissington aboard Ricker Ridge Sooty GNZ.

In the CCI4*-L (section A) class, Andrew and Monbeg Exclusive scored 34.7 penalty points with Olympic long lister Pippa Funnell (GBR) aboard her 2020 Pau CCI5*-L winner Billy Walk On leading the way on 29.4. Dan Jocelyn and Lissyegan Rory scored 35.8, Tayla Mason with Centennial 38.5 and Holli Swain aboard Solo 42.2. The CCI4*-L (section A1) goes this evening with Dan and Duke of Champions the only Kiwis in the field.
