The Prestige Equestrian Futures Prize goes down to the line at the North Island Dressage Championships this weekend.

This coveted series prize brings with it a fabulous Prestige Dressage Saddle generously sponsored by Prestige Equestrian. The Prestige Equestrian philosophy behind the series is to encourage and reward those riders who have not yet competed at FEI Medium Tour or above to produce their own horses through the grades – riders who are still to develop their own performance profile which brings greater sponsorship opportunities. Horses are eligible up to 10yrs of age.  Riders may only win the saddle once but can still win the series on points.

A previous winner in the 2016/17 season, Fernlea Diamond Day and Lorraine Ward-Smith are on top of the Leaderboard but have no further opportunities to score points. Hot on her heels is the very consistent young Waikato combination of nineteen-year-old Morgan Beere and Redwood Furst Affair. This is Morgan’s first horse since coming off ponies and has bought the now eight-year Hanoverian mare by Furstenball / Londonderry through the grades since an unbroken youngster, imported from Australia as a two-year-old. Morgan says of the mare “Bella is a cool calm horse and tries really hard to please. Her claim to fame is how fast she can eat a bucket of feed”

Currently in third place & fifth places, Jane Fibbes & Sonja Swale also have no more chances to score points, but Waikato’s Kathryn Corry and Ganache MH are in the still hunt at North Island Championships this weekend
