Competition is underway at the Burnham Market International Horse Trials with the first half of both the CCI4*-L and CCI4*-S fields having completed their dressage.

Dan Jocelyn and Lissyegan Rory scored 32.8 penalty points to sit in 17th spot provisionally in the 53-strong section L. Piggy March (GBR) and Dargun lead the pack on 26.2 with Victoria Panizzon (ITL) and Chequers Play the Game right on her tail on 26.9. Hollie Swain and Solo XII, the only other Kiwis in the section, had a 38.3 penalty point outing.

Section L1 kicks off tonight with James Avery and Mr Sneezy are fifth out with Dan and Blackthorn Cruise second to last to go.

It is the first time a 4*-L has been held at Burnham Market and was introduced to replace classes lost through the cancellation of Blenheim Palace International.

The CCI4*-S is a blend of the ‘normal’ class as well as an eight/nine-year-old section. Izzy Taylor (GBR) aboard Haracker set a Burnham Market dressage record with 20.3 to lead the age-group section with Oliver Townend and Cillnabradden Evo on 23.3 at the front of the ‘normal’ 4*-S.

Section S1 starts tonight with Jesse Campbell and Diachello early in the field, followed by Ginny Thompson on Stars Align and Samantha Lissington with Ricker Ridge Sooty GNZ later in the day.
