It’s second, third and fourth for Tim and Jonelle Price in the CCI4*-L at the Lotto Strzegom Horse Trials in Poland.

Jonelle and Grappa Nera were leading coming into the showjumping this morning but a rail in the combination proved costly and saw her slip to second with a score of 34.5 penalty points and giving the win to Yoshiaki Oiwa (JAP) aboard Tullyoran Cruise JRA on 33.8.

“It was a shame to have the one fence today,” said Jonelle. “She jumped an otherwise faultless round. Having been in limbo throughout the lockdown then suddenly some dates got released and we decided to get in nice and early to get the Olympic qualifications to give us options for the remainder of the year. That also mean a relatively short preparation.”

Jonelle said given the mare still being young and McClaren a new ride, she is still delighted with them both. “I am really excited with where we can go from here.”

Jonelle and McClaren were third on 37.8, with Tim and Wesko fourth on 38.7. McClaren and Wesko were both clear in the showjumping.

The class brought the curtain down on the event which attracted 217 horses from 17 countries, competing across 11 classes.
