It’s a mixed bag for the Kiwis competing at the Burgham International Horse Trials in the UK.
The first international of the season for Great Britain has attracted massive entries and is being held without spectators.

The CCI3*-S classes are all done and dusted with Caroline and Greenacres Special Cavalier placing second in section K, finishing on their 27.5 penalty point dressage score and just behind Oliver Townend and Miss Cooley on 26.1. Hollie and Drumnaconnell Nico were 38th on 53.3.

In the CCI4*-S (section L), Caroline Powell is the best of the bunch, sitting in ninth spot (prov) with the dressage now complete. She and Up Up and Away scored 27.8 penalty points in the 83-strong field, which is led by Oliver Townend (GBR) aboard Ballaghmor Class on 21.4. James Avery and One of a Kind II are in 31st (prov) on a score of 32.8 with Dan Jocelyn and Florencina R on 34.3.

James and Mr Sneezy are well in the hunt in the CCI4*-S (section M), sitting in 11th spot (prov) on a score of 26.9 with Jesse Campbell and Diachello right behind him on 27.5. World champ Rosalind Canter (GBR) and Allstar B lead on an eye-watering 19.7. Dan Jocelyn and Blackthorn Cruise are in 18th on 29.2 with Tayla Mason and Centennial on 35.3, Caroline and On the Brash on 35.6, and Hollie Swain aboard Solo XII on 39.7.

In the CCI3*-S (section J), James and Sportsfield Lord Livesey the best of the Kiwis in section J, finishing in 11th place after adding just 1.6 time in the showjumping to end the class with 34.2. Oliver Townend (GBR) and Cillnabradden Evo won on their dressage score of 26.7. Caroline and Rock Midnight finished in 23rd on 38, with Hollie and Faruq Aldrup 27th on 39.6, James and Cooley Lord Lux 33rd on 42, Ginny Thompson aboard Star Anise II 54th on 60.1, and Tayla on Gino Gingerino 62nd on 88.5.

In the CCI2*-L where they have completed the dressage and cross country tests, Samantha Lissington aboard Ricker Ridge Valentina added just .4 time to sit in 11th spot (prov) on 32.9.
The event continues through the weekend.
