DRESSAGE

FEI eDressage™ online assessment platform goes live

The FEI has launched the FEI eDressage™ Online platform in partnership with Black Horse One (BHO) and SAP, to provide a unique environment for FEI registered Dressage and Para Dressage Athletes to boost their training and development. FEI registered Athletes can upload videos of their FEI Dressage test to the FEI eDressage™ Online platform every week, for it to then be anonymously judged by a pool of FEI 5* level Dressage and Para Dressage Judges.

In the first phase, a number of videos will be randomly selected and Athletes will then be provided with feedback on their performance and given pointers for improvement. This platform provides Athletes with the opportunity to have their tests remotely evaluated by a group of top-level judges and to receive key insights that could benefit their performances. In the long run, it also has the potential to become a valuable source of content for training FEI Officials in close collaboration with the FEI’s online e-learning platform, FEI Campus.

Promotion of Dressage 5* Judges from 1 January 2021

Four FEI 4* Dressage Judges – Peter Storr (GBR), Kurt Christensen (DEN), Lars Andersson (SWE) and Ulrike Nivelle (GER) – have been promoted to 5* status, the highest rank, by the FEI Dressage Technical Committee. The promotion, which will come into effect on 1 January 2021, will allow these Judges to officiate at major FEI Dressage events in the future, such as FEI Dressage World Cup™ Finals, FEI Championships at Grand Prix level, FEI World Championships and Olympic Games.

This promotion will bring the number of FEI 5* Dressage judges to 41.

The FEI would like to congratulate the promoted Judges and wish them much success in their continued judging career.

FEI OFFICIALS

Update to officiating requirements for 2020/2021

In light of Covid-19, the following updates have been made to the Officiating Requirements for 2020/2021.

Officials who normally had until 15 December 2020 to fulfil their officiating requirements now have their deadline extended to 15 December 2021.

Group A Officials
Have to take their CES Online Assessment before 15 December 2020:

  • If successful, they stay in “Group A” and will have until 15 December 2021 to take their next CES Online Assessment
  • If unsuccessful, they will have to do an In-Person Maintenance Course before 15 December 2021
  • If the CES Online Assessment is not taken, the function will be closed

Note that to officiate at events taking place after 31 March of each year, Officials must successfully complete the CES Online Assessment.  This requirement remains unchanged.

Group B Officials
Have until 15 December 2021 to attend their In-Person Maintenance Course:

  • Officials who already attended and passed the In-Person Maintenance Course before 15 December 2020 will become “Group A” in 2021, and will be required to take a CES Online Assessment before 15 December 2021
  • If the In-Person Maintenance Course is not attended by 15 December 2021, the function will be closed

For more information on officiating requirements, please refer to the FEI Competency-Based Evaluation System (CES) section on Inside.FEI.org.

Role of Officials at FEI Events in relation to Covid-19 measures

FEI Officials play a vital role at Events and it is important they are familiar with the FEI Policy for Enhanced Competition Safety during the Covid-19 Pandemic” (“Policy”) and the OC’s Covid-19 measures.

A set of FAQs has been added to the Officials filter in the Covid-19 hub and we would like to take this opportunity to remind all Officials that it is not their duty to assess or implement the OC’s Covid-19 measures, however, we do welcome their feedback. The Event reports have been updated to allow for feedback, so please ensure you use the updated forms, available in the discipline-specific Official hubs.

Thank you for your support and please do not hesitate to contact Catherine Bollon if you have any questions or concerns.

ORGANISERS

Return to Play: FEI Policy for Enhanced Competition Safety during the Covid-19 Pandemic

As you may know, the FEI Policy for Enhanced Competition Safety during the Covid-19 Pandemic came into effect on 1 July 2020 in a bid to harmonise the return of international competitions during the Covid-19 pandemic, and contribute to the efforts that are made all around the world to minimize or reduce the spread of the disease.

The Policy requires that all Organisers (OCs) of FEI Events across the world use the same tool in order to evaluate the risk posed by their Event in terms of Covid-19 transmission and provides guidance for social distancing and hygiene measures in the context of FEI equestrian sport. It is not intended to replace the applicable guidance and policies from domestic government and health authorities, but to supplement their recommendations with sport specific considerations. The Policy includes:

  • A framework outlining objectives, roles and responsibilities.

  • A decision-making system for sports federations/sports event organisers when planning events during the Covid-19 pandemic. This system, which was developed by the WHO, is composed of a risk assessment tool (new FEI version published today), a decision making tree, and an accompanying document outlining relevant considerations.

  • Best practices for FEI Event Organisers.

Under this Policy, conducting and documenting the risk assessment – together with the National Federation – is mandatory for FEI Event Organisers.

A Covid-19 Communication Plan Checklist for Organising Committees as well as detailed FAQs and the Risk Assessment tools are regularly reviewed and all available on the Return to Play hub. Please visit these pages regularly for updates and do not hesitate to contact Catherine.bollon@fei.org for further assistance.
