With South Island Titles up for grabs riders head to Blenheim this weekend (15-16th February) for the Marlborough’s Select Wineries South Island Championships, hosted this year by the Marlborough Area Show Jumping Group. 

Held on Sunday the premier class for the Show is the POLi Payments in conjunction with Marlborough Select Wineries Premier League Grand Prix boasting $10,000 worth of prize money. This class has a quality field, which includes the South Island’s top combinations and has even lured some North Islanders down.  

After coming in 1st and 2nd in the National Pony Grand Prix Championship last month. North Otago Sisters Emma and Samantha Gillies will be ones to watch in the Country TV in conjunction with Springlands Lifestyle Village Pony Grand Prix, which has $4950 worth of prize money up for grabs.

For those looking for some further entertainment on Saturday night, there is a fun teams obstacle competition. Teams must include one person of Junior or Young Rider Age, one Pony Rider, two Miscellaneous Helpers, and one special Dog.

Competition starts on Saturday the 15th of February at 8.30 am at the Marlborough Equestrian Park and continues on Sunday starting at 8 am. With three rings of show jumping and one ring of show hunter on the cards.
