There’s more good news out of the UAE this morning with Daniel Meech and Cinca placing fifth in the CSI5* 1.6m Grand Prix.

“I am really happy,” said Daniel. “Cinca was just awesome in her first 5* Grand Prix. It was a really tough track but it felt like she could eat it for breakfast. She has been developing very well over the past 14 months. She is still very green so today was a nice result and told us she is ready for the big time.”

The class was won by Mouda Zeyada (EGY) aboard Morocco who finished with four faults from the two rounds, stopping the clock in the second at 50.48 seconds. Daniel had four faults in each round, with a time of 53.9 in the second.

Daniel was hugely grateful to be given the opportunity to ride the horse by Desiree Johnson and Team Johnson Horses. He also thanked the Backing Back campaign for its ongoing support.

Richard Gardner aboard Calisto and Bruce Goodin on Backatorps Danny were both in action in other classes but weren’t in the prize money.

Competition continues tonight (Friday NZ time) along with a rest day for some as they prepare for the Nations Cup on Saturday evening.
