Organisers have stepped in to offer even more incentives for North Island based riders who travel to Christchurch for the Tavendale & Partners National Show Jumping and Show Hunter Championships which will be in Christchurch from 16-19 January 2020.

Normally the Inter Islander ferry offers a subsidy for ESNZ members, but this is not available at peak times which unfortunately includes all of January. The show’s organisers have therefore stepped in to match the off-peak subsidy, which will be administered by way of refunding the extra costs.

The North Island riders can use the National Equestrian Centre for up to three days / two nights either side of the show at no cost apart from the powered camping charge.  The North Island horses travelling south are also eligible for a ESNZ subsidy.

The other big incentive for all riders is the very attractive prize money on offer.  Show Hunter classes are offering wonderful prize money.  For instance, if you win the Lone Goat Vineyard NZ National Title Open Championship, you will receive a rug , garland and $800!  Total prize money for that class amounts to nearly $1500.

In the Show Jumping ring, the Hilton Press National 1.20m championship title comes with total prize money of $3,260 and it increases from there for the other main classes, including $4,000 for the Rangiora Vet Centre National Open Pony Championship, $6700 for the Wilcox Perlas Potatoes NZ National Grand Prix Horse Championship and the winner of the Tavendale and Partners NZ National Premier Horse Championship (which is part of the POLi Premier League Series) will receive $3,600, the Rutherford Cup, the garland, sashes and the rug, not to mention the fame and glory that comes with winning the national title!

Entries close on the 4th of January with late entries being accepted with an additional fee penalty.  Nathan Brown is the Chair of the organising committee and will be happy to discuss any queries you may have.  He can be contacted on 021 0274 6688.
