Eventing Southland held their third event in eight weeks on Sunday. The weather came to the party with a lovely summers day and the ground conditions were perfect. The Course Designers, Lindsay Carruthers and Jim Hazlet presented some great tracks that rode well and were enjoyed by all riders. Thanks needs to go to our hardworking Committee and members who pitched in to help. Special thanks to our Officials, CDs, TDs, Stewards and Judges who give up their time to make these events happen. These people are becoming harder to find so we really do appreciate the effort you make, and time you put in.
The ‘ Saddlery Warehouse’ CCN2*-S class started off as quite a competitive class with only 5 points between the five riders after dressage. Lindsay’s bold XC course rode well with Lucy Harrex and Damontez Jewel taking out a deserved win finishing on her dressage score, from Lauren Enright and Keepsake and Janelle Gibson and Lil Bit Blue.
Ian Dee and Dr Thunder took out the ‘Eastern Physiotheraphy’ CCN105-S class with a clear Show Jumping round after leader Lauren Enright and Beaumont Cash dropped a rail and Tayla Melvin and Westwood Tandewe moved up from 7 to finish 3rd finishing on her dressage score.
Joneen Chalmers and Jacknthebox lead all the way to win the ‘Konica Minolta’ CCN95-S, as did Georgia Watt-Wright and Manawa in the Excel Equine NZPCA95.
The ‘Gail Richardson Equine’ CCN80-S was a close finish with Liz Green and Delta Frank Sinatra taking the win by .2 from Michelle Harrex and Smartie Cat. Phillippa Stratford and Peti Peti Wai took the win in the large ‘Comfy Equine Rubber Matting’ NZPCA80 class.
The Witches Brew Hoof Oil CCN 65 class was won by Kim Bennet on Shes A Drama Queen. Heidi Green and Jubilee True Colours won the ‘Churchy’s NZPCA65 class. Hollie Clearwater and Moonbug finished the day with a win in the ‘Udy’s Grain and Seed’ NZPCA First Start Class.
