Olivia Dalton just keeps on getting better. Today the teen from Karaka guided her Aussie import Cil Dara Bonaparte to victory in the POLi Payments Premier League Horse Grand Prix at the Fiber Fresh Premier Showjumping and Show Hunter Show at Woodhill Sands.

It was her first premier start on the 12-year-old chestnut gelding but they made super short work of the eight strong field. Just Olivia and Glen Beal (Pukekohe) aboard All Expenses of Renton came back for the jump-off. Olivia was out first and while she was aiming for a “nice clear” she didn’t want to waste any time over the Philippa Howells-designed course..

“I took a stride out of the first line so I didn’t have to go too fast around the course and let him do his thing without rushing him,” said Olivia. “It all went to plan today which doesn’t always happen.” She’s putting some of that success down to Melissa Watson who helped her before her round today, walking the course and warming her up.

Glen retired after an early rail to take second place with Emily Hayward (Te Awamutu) and Belischi HM in third.

Olivia and Cil Dara Bonaparte were also third in the FMG Young Rider class. “It is my second season with him and I do hope there is a lot more to come. He is jumping really well and I am excited for the rest of the season.”

In the Country TV Pony Grand Prix Georgia Bouzaid (Cambridge) and Redcliffs Bill cruised to victory with a stunning double clear that was more than five seconds faster than her nearest opposition. Both Georgia and Sophia Hall (Auckland) aboard TCG Centadel were double clear but it all went Georgia’s way thanks to some rather slick riding.

More than 490 horses competed at the show, the biggest event to date for the Woodhill Sands Trust. Wayne Bragg designed in ring two with Danielle Watts in ring three.
