The South Island Show Jumping season started over the weekend with the PGG Wrightson Nelson Bays Spring Show Jumping Festival at Marchwood Park. Unfortunately it was a very wet opening day of the competition but the riders who started were rewarded for their efforts.

Anna Nalder and Icebreaker II won the Equifibre Junior Rider class with a clear round. Anna has successfully taken over the ride on Icebreaker II from sister Tayler, who last season finished first equal in the NZ Junior Rider Series. Peita Milne finished second aboard her new horse Ngahiwi Warrior with four faults.

There were two winners of the Harrison Lane Pro Amateur Rider class with Katie Meredith on Westgrove GNZ and Jess Land on Emilio MSH finishing First Equal.

Molly Buist-Brown and Mountain Eutopia were the winners of the ESNZ 6yo series class. A clear round saw Molly also take out the FMG Young Rider on Vali, Jaimee Bird and Euro Champagne placed second. All three of these horses are by Euro Sport Centavos.

The winners of the East Coast Performance Horses 5yo series class were Tegan Fitzsimon riding the Andretti mare Avantti, owned and bred by Jeremy Haselden.

Madeline Woods on Galaxy Masterpiece took out the Country TV Pony Grand Prix and Graciey-Rose Donnithorne on Cavallo Marrone won the Dunstan Horse Feeds Amateur Rider.

The next South Island Show is hosted by the SCNO Area at Waimate in three weeks.
