Rob is a long serving volunteer for Eventing from Auckland. He has been a steward and cross country judge for “many, many, many years, long before my time,” said Eliza Johns, ESNZ’s Eventing Sport Manager, who nominated Rob.

Rob has been the Eventing chief steward at the Horse of the Year multiple times and deals with the complexities of the show with consummate ease.

He always has the sport’s best interests at heart and willingly offers his time and wise, experienced advice to mentor and develop others.

“His infectious smile can brighten the dampest of days at an event,” said Eliza. “While Rob’s health has made it more difficult for him over the past few years, he continues to volunteer despite this. He is most definitely deserving of this award!”

Thank you so much Rob, for your many years of service to Eventing, for the countless hours of work you do, your generosity and commitment to the sport at all levels and helping others to succeed and grow.

Our sport is in good hands with Rob and our other wonderful volunteers like him who quietly go about the business of making things happen so smoothly. Next time you are so lucky to be on the receiving end of our volunteers’ generosity, please take a moment to thank them.

ESNZ Volunteer of the Month receives a gift in recognition of their contribution; Rob’s is on its way to him.

Rob’s nomination came about from ESNZ having a ‘Volunteer of the Month’ nomination box at Horse of the Year and in our Wellington office into which our members have popped their Volunteer of the Month nominations. But doesn’t end there, you can nominate your Volunteer of the Month by emailing us at [email protected]  with Volunteer of the Month in the subject line.
