The 2019/2020 Endurance season is set to be an exciting one, as news of a Trans-Tasman event has been released.

The event is to be hosted by the North Islands Ruahine Club, over the weekend 30th November/1st December 2019 at their popular Waiouru venue.

The call for team selectors and a team Chef d’Equipe is the first order of business.

Selectors will be required to choose a team of New Zealand’s finest horse and rider combinations to represent our country. They will also be required to select the horses which will be lent to the Australian team for their riders. This is sure to be a tough yet interesting job, as there have been some excellent performers in Endurance the last few years and picking only a handful of them will not be easy.

The other role that needs to be filled is that of Chef d’Equipe. The Chef must be able to work well with and lead a team, have a good understanding of the rules and have good organisational skills. As Chef d’Equipe for the last event I personally couldn’t recommend the role more highly. It was an honour to represent the country with such a fantastic group of riders and crew. This year’s event will surely be an equally amazing experience for the next Chef d’Equipe.

The step from National to International events is a big one; the aim of the Trans-Tasman event is to provide a stepping stone to help with that leap. This includes these two roles, being a selector or Chef d’Equipe for the Trans-Tasman is an excellent way to get more involved in Endurance and put yourself out there for future roles for other international events.

Applications for both roles close this Thursday, the 20th of June. So get in quick if you want to be part of this fantastic event, you will not regret it!
