Wairakei Resort has been involved with the event for a number of years. “It is a fantastic locally-based event for us,” says Ash. “Geographically we are very close to the equestrian centre and see these sort of events as a perfect fit for the hotel.”
With a kitchen of very talented international chefs, Wairakei Resort Taupo is also becoming well known for its weekend buffets – every Saturday until June there is an all-you-can-eat Taste of Asia Buffet with the popular Sunday Roast Buffet to finish off the weekend.
“Our chefs come from all over the globe, with many from Asia and this is a chance for them to bring some of their favourite recipes from Sri Lanka, Indonesia, Japan, China, India, Korea, Thailand and beyond to your table. It is really fantastic.”

The hotel has a long history, dating back to 1886. Those original buildings may have been replaced but the heart of this very special resort remains.
