ESNZ is, as we all are, acutely aware that our sport would not exist without the many, many generous volunteers who give of their time and expertise week after week. The ESNZ Volunteer of the Month award is to recognise the tremendous contribution that our volunteers make to the success and survival of our sport.

April 2019’s Volunteer of the Month is twelve year-old Jack Calder from Central & Southern Hawke’s Bay who is involved in showjumping and show hunter.

Sue Dyke nominated Jack and said this of him:

“Jack is an old head on young shoulders. He works at every show helping the arena crew. He looks for things to do, picks up rails, volunteered at Horse of the Year to work alongside one of the course designers for a week and he always helps out wherever he can. He’s always polite and is a real enthusiast.”

Thank you Jack, you’re an absolute star! In life, there are no sure bets, except that people like you will rise to the occasion and make the world a better place. With people like you, the future of our sport is in good hands.

The Volunteer of the Month receives a gift in recognition of their contribution. Jack’s is on his way to him.

Jack’s nomination came about from ESNZ having a ‘Volunteer of the Month’ nomination box at Horse of the Year and in our Wellington office in which our members have popped their Volunteer of the Month nominations.

It doesn’t end there however, you can nominate your Volunteer of the Month by emailing us at [email protected]  with Volunteer of the Month in the subject line. Please provide this information:
