Vanessa Way and NRM Andreas have won the Harrison & Lane CDI 3* Grand Prix today at the Land Rover Horse of the Year Show on a score of 68.804% and the Judith Simpson Memorial Trophy. It was another epic contest between this pair and Wendi Williamson on Don Amour MH who had to settle for runner up with 67.761%, Jody Hartstone and Ali Baba 3rd on 66.239% and Bill Millar on Raukura Satori MH with 64,891%. Way and Williamson both earned their first FEI MES for Tokyo Olympic Games.
The Dressage Pony of the Year title and the Prima Magneto Tray was won by Bella Small and Kingslea Busy Bee,
The first of the Level 8 classes was won by Melissa Galloway and Windermere J Obei W
Julie Flintoff and Belladonna MH scored her second Level 7 win with 69.735%
The Level 6 title was decided today and with the consistencyof two second placings scoring the title from for Wendi Williamson and Decadance MH. Chelsea Callaghan (Sisters II Etta J) and Vanessa Way (NSC Pronto) each scored a win and a fourth, Cooper Oborn and Revelwood Showtime was third twice with Way earning the runner up slot as the result of her Freestyle win.
Wednesday Wrap
Five titles were decided on day three of dressage competition at the 2019 Horse of the Year show.
Auckland rider, Haydee Wells-Parmenter took home the level 4 Horse of the Year title, just ahead of Wendi Williamson. Haydee’s stunning chestnut Hanoverian mare by Royal Blend, also took home a title in 2018 for the level 3.
“Pipi (Royal Dream) tried her heart out in all three tests this week, but she really showed some moments of brilliance in her musical. I love riding a musical, it is always my favourite test to ride, and generally where we get our best scores.”
Gaylene Lennard and Jax Johnson finished off their consistent season by winning the level 5 title. The Dutch warmblood gelding, by Johnson, has taken home Champion from every show he has started in this season, so pulling off the final champion of the season has made Gaylene really proud.
“Horse of the Year has always been good to me. Leading up to this show I really worked on consolidating his movements, and ran through our musical a number of times., since it is worth extra points here.”
The practice paid off, with Lennard taking out the musical, thus clinching the coveted title.
Vanessa Way and NRM Timbermill Prequel, affectionately known as Wills as home, took out the Level 2. The 6 year old gelding, by Prestige VDL finished up the show with scoring an exceptional 78.1% in the 2D title class.
Lucy Russell finished off an amazing season by winning the Level 1 Amateur title. The Central Districts veterinarian and her 5 year old chestnut mare Donneroyale (by Donnerubin) also took out the Level 1 Amateur title at the Bates National Dressage champs last month.
The level 1 Open title was also won by a Donnerubin progeny. Lindisfarne Danseur and Wellington’s Rosanne Rix took home the beautiful navy rug, after gaining great scores in both her title classes
