Luhmuhlen is turning into a happy hunting ground for Jesse Campbell who is in second place in the CCI4* at the end of the dressage.

Campbell and Cleveland scored 24.6 penalty points and sit just .5 behind Tim Lips (NED) aboard Bayro on 24.1. Jonelle Price and Faerie Dianimo are well in touch with the leaders, sitting in sixth equal on 27.1, with Campbell and Amsterdam in 12th on 28.3, and Blyth Tait and Havanna in 20th on 30.8.

It is the first CCI4* start for Cleveland and Campbell was rapt with the 11-year-old bay gelding. He’s now looking forward to the cross country.

“You’ve got everything in there,” he said. “The course is challenging but fair. The questions are very clear and with concentration and accurate riding, we should be able to produce a good round.”

The CCI4* cross country starts at 9am (GER time) with Campbell out first aboard Amsterdam 21. The bulk of the Kiwis go late in the 48-strong field. With just 28.2 penalty points between first and class in the field, the cross country is bound to give the leaderboard a good shake-up.
