Eventing New Zealand’s very in-form couple Tim and Jonelle Price head to the second leg of the 2018 Event Rider masters series in Germany this week.

Tim is entered aboard Cekatinka, with Jonelle on Cloud Dancer for the event being held at Biebrich Palace, on the banks of the River Rhine in the heart of Wiesbaden.

World number three Tim and Cekatinka won the CCI3* at Boekelo last year and plenty is expected from them in Germany this week. The 11-year-old bay mare, who is by King Kolibri, out of Katinka (by Julio Mariner) was previously also ridden by Jonelle.

Lauded Badminton winner Jonelle and Cloud Dancer have a 100% CCI3* top five placing rate and all clear in the cross country at this level too. Cloud Dancer, an 11-year-old black gelding, is by San Remo, out of Urelja (by Sandro Hit).

However, it is a star-studded field they are up against, with the likes of Ingrid Klimke (GER), Julia Krajewdki (GER) and Michael Jung (GER) likely to take full advantage of their home ground edge. Organisers are picking Klimke and SAP Hale Bob OLD to give the ERM 205 penalty point dressage record a good nudge.

Izzy Taylor (GBR) is also on the card and starts as a favourite on the back of her podium finish in leg one at  The start list includes the world’s top three ranked eventers and 12 Olympians from 11 nations.

The event gets underway with the dressage Friday evening, followed by the showjumping and cross country.
