Angela Lloyd & Raucous – Wairakei Resort CCN105 Championship (Thomson Trophy) Winner 2018

Angela Lloyd and her homebred “gentle giant” can now lay claim to both the one and three day championships after victory today in the Wairakei Resort CCN105 Championship at the NRM3DE in Taupo.

The Hunua combination finished on their 26.9 penalty point dressage score to take the honours ahead of second-placed Kirsty Guilfoyle (Hunua) aboard Ash Haven Diva on 29.2, Jessica Woods (Ohaupo) aboard Kings Soleil in third with 31.4 and Emily Cammock (Canterbury) on Antara in fourth on 31.6. All the top four finished on their dressage scores.

Lloyd had a couple of lives in her showjumping round but says she was “pretty happy” about it all.

“That’s two big wins for a big horse,” she said. “He’s done a lot this season and done well. He does need a bit more mileage. He’s a big baby but always cautious.”

Lloyd won the Thomson Trophy for their efforts today. Seven-year-old Raucous is by Lloyd’s dressage horse Ruanuku R, out of Harleon.

Thirty-nine of the original 46 starters completed the CCN105 Championship.
