Three keen youngsters add their words to the #backingblack banner.

Eventers will have their chance to pen their best wishes to New Zealand’s FEI World Equestrian Games riders at the NRM 3DE.

Equestrian Sports New Zealand are bringing the #backingblack campaign to the National Three Day Event Championships, including supporters gear, the banner, the #backingblack photo booth and information on the HorsePower initiative. The campaign was launched at the 2018 Land Rover Horse of the Year Show where hundreds signed the banner which will be taken to North Carolina in September for the Games.

The ESNZ gazebo will be ringside where the HorsePower team will be hosting owners, sponsors and supporters, along with 3*, ESNZ high performance and performance squad riders.

The HorsePower Programme seeks to ensure Kiwi riders have medal-winning horses, by securing equines that give them the opportunity to compete with success on the world stage.

High performance operations manager Warrick Allan is looking forward to see more signatures and good wishes on the banner.

“WEG is going to be a cracker for us and it’s special for our riders to see the support from everyone in New Zealand,” he says.

ESNZ has released a supporters’ line of clothing which includes polos, hoodies, jackets and caps. All will be available at the NRM 3DE but can also be purchased through the ESNZ website.

“We want everyone to be part of this campaign,” says Allan, who is encouraging people to use the #backingblack hash tag to show their support.
