Eventing Wellington’s Spring event held last Sunday 5th Nov at QE Park Paekakariki was well supported especially in the lower classes.  The OC are very keen to provide an event that supports not only emerging young riders in these 80 & 95cm classes but also established riders bringing on new horses and adult riders competing for pleasure.

With 116 horses competing and 34 of these being in the CNC80cm under 21 class, the day was busy for all officials.

The weather held out except for a few cold showers that passed over quickly late in the day. All riders had a good day and enjoyed the newly painted fences.

This was the first event in the 2018 Zilco Series which encompasses the November 17 and March 18 events at QE Park and Battle Hill.

The March event should see the completion of the new Rangers building, which will provide better facilities for the event with a new Toilet block and room for the Secretary, Scorers and Officials.

Taupo rider Holly Morrell was the winner of the Versatile Homes & Buildings 1* finishing on her dressage score, and Wellington Rider Aiden Viviers 2nd with local rider Gemma Wyman 3rd.

Nga Tawa Diocesan School brought a truck load of riders with Eloise King and local rider Victoria Haig both from Nga Tawa taking 1st and 2nd place in the Mason Equestrian CNC105 class. Both riders did a great Dressage test with scores over 70 percent.

Winners of the other classes were, CNC95 21+ Kate Fleming on Argenteuil, CNC95 U21 Hollie Falloon on Farleigh Catterick, CNC80 21+ Tracy McKee on KL Amorina, and CNC80 U21 Ella Miranda on Red Baron.

Many thanks to all committee, helpers and volunteers that worked hard to provide an excellent run event.
