The first leg of the ESNZ Eventing Super League to be contested in the south takes place at the South Island Eventing Championships at the McLeans Island National Equestrian Centre, Christchurch, this weekend, 11/12 November.

The Dunstan Horsefeeds CIC3* has just three entries, Emily Cammock on her NRM National Three-day Event champion Shaw Lee, as well as Lewis, and former North Islander Corey Wood on Pick Up Line. Only the winner will earn major Super League points.

Likewise the Hei Hei Pharmacy CIC2* class is small, with seven entries, but full of quality, with three of the Cantabrian’s who raided the Oaklane Stables CIC2* at Arran Station in Central Hawkes Bay a fortnight ago. Larissa Srhoy on Rockquest and Lydia Truesdale on Allander Rocket placed second and third respectively in strong North Island company.

The placings saw Lydia take the lead in the Equissage Pro-Am series, by the slimmest of margins, with Larissa moving into third spot. They will both be hoping to add to their tallies and consolidate their positions at the top of the points table.

Kirsty Sharapoff, who also made the trip with Shoot The Breeze, but had an uncharacteristic error on cross-country, will be trying to catch her fellow travellers and retrieve her reputation, having won the Bates CCI2* at Taupo last year.

All classes will earn points in the year long series, with the Mitavite Young Rider and PEL Amateur Rider series high on the agenda, as well as the Equissage Pro-Am series and the elite level ESNZ Eventing Super League.
