Georgia Lawrie and her striking cremello stallion notched up their first Grand Prix win at Woodhill Sands at the weekend. An impressive result considering the horse switched from dressage to Jumping only two seasons ago.

Lawrie and SP Blue Eyed Ghost had one rail in the first round of the Dunstan Horsefeeds and EquiFibre Horse Grand Prix event resulting in an exciting four fault jump-off with Danielle Maurer and Dicavelli Don Quattro.

Danielle, who won the Grand Prix class at Woodhill Sands earlier this month, was first to go in the jump-off but took a rail.

“I knew all I had to do was jump clear and I had the win” – says Lawrie.

SP Blue Eyed Ghost is an eleven-year-old stallion standing at stud at South Pacific Equestrian and Lawrie has been riding him for 18 months.

Lawrie’s game plan was to keep it simple after a shaky start to the season – “I just wanted give him a nice ride after things not going to plan at our last show at Equidays,  I couldn’t have been happier with the way he jumped yesterday.”

While the stallion is relatively green at this level, Lawrie is aiming for a World Cup start with the stallion later in the season if things continue to track well.

Sarah West also had a successful show winning the Dunstan Horsefeeds and EquiFibre Junior Rider Series aboard Erl Grey II and also placed 3rd and 6th in the Country TV Pony Grand Prix on Miss Mae West and Showtyme Cruiser.
